Why is it important?  Healthy marrow and blood cells are needed to live. When a disease affects marrow so that it cannot function properly, a bone marrow transplant could be the best treatment option, and for some patients, offers the ONLY potential cure.

2. Receive your swab kit in the mail and send it back

3. Wait patiently to be matched!

-Requirements 

• Live in the United States or Puerto Rico
• Meet health guidelines
• Are willing to donate to any patient in need
• 18-40 years old

-Donate in two ways

1. PBSC- Take Filgration 5 days prior to increase number of blood-forming cells. Through a nonsurgical procedure called apheresis, blood stem cell will be collected. 

2. Liquid Marrow- Under anesthesia, Doctors use a needle to withdraw liquid marrow from the back pelvic bone. 

- Recovery 

Donating is less painful than you think. Discomfort varies from person to person. Most common side effects include back pain, fatigue, headache, or bruising for a few days. Overall majority of donors say it was worth it to save a life.
